April 24, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a Drug Inspector of the Food and Drug Control office in the city in a bribery case involving a sum of Rs. 20,000.
The complainant in this case runs a medical store. On 18/04/2024, the accused, Darshanaben Modi, a class 2 officer posted as a Drugs Inspector at the Food and Drug Control Office in Bahumaali Bhawan-2, Vastrapur, visited the complainant’s medical store. She checked all the medicines kept in the medical store, also verifying whether there were any medicines containing drugs other than those mentioned in the license. She also asked for the bills for all the medicines which the complainant provided. Later, the accused said that as the complainant did not keep a record of the doctor’s prescriptions for the medicines sold to customers, he would have to pay a bribe of Rs. 1,00,000. After negotiation, the bribe amount was fixed at 30,000/-, out of which the complainant had already given Rs. 10,000/- to the accused at that time.
Later, when the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000, the complainant was unwilling to pay and contacted the ACB. Based on the complaint, a trap was set up today, and the accused was nabbed red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe in Bahumali Bhavan-2 in Vastrapur. DeshGujarat
