Unseasonal rain lashes parts of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Several parts of Gujarat witnessed relief from the scorching heat after unseasonal rain occurred in many places this morning. The rains are likely to continue till tomorrow morning as per the latest weather forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department.
The unseasonal rain occurred in several areas of Tapi district such as Valod, Dolvan, and Vyara. Vapi and Valsad districts also witnessed light showers. Karjan, Nandesari, Padra and Dabhoi areas in Vadodara district also witnessed rain after a sudden change in the weather. The unseasonal rain also lashed parts of Balasinor, Mahuda, Nadiad, Dakor, and Mehmdabad. Heavy unseasonal rains were also reported in Dahod and Chota Udepur districts.
In the Saurashtra region, rains lashed coastal areas of Bhavnagar district.
Even though the non-seasonal rains have brought relief from the heat for the general public, the farmers of the state are reeling from crop losses due to the rains. Crops of mango and chikoo have suffered damage due to this rain in several parts of the state.
The IMD in its latest weather bulletin has stated, “Light rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and in Daman, Dadara Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch,” till the 8:30 am tomorrow i.e 27th April.
