Surat: The Surat Special Operation Group (SOG) and the Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB), in a joint operation, seized 1kg of MD drugs worth Rs. 1 crore near a Madrasa in the Lal Gate area. However, the drug dealer and the recipient of the mephedrone shipment managed to flee the crime scene.
SOG assistant sub-inspectors Imtiyaz Fakru Mohammad and Jagsi Shantibhai received information that Mohammed Kasif, also known as Pasina Shaikh, would deliver a significant quantity of MD near Islamiyah Sufibaug madrasa on April 29th. Acting on the tip-off, they raided the location. Kasif arrived on his motorcycle to deliver narcotics to the recipient, Shebaz Irshad Hussain Khan. However, they abandoned the shipment and fled upon sensing the police’s arrival. Despite the police chasing them in different directions, their efforts were hindered by roads under construction for drainage work.
Both individuals have been identified based on CCTV footage and other evidence and have been booked under the NDPS Act, with the investigation transferred to Lalgate police. Police are investigating the source of the shipment and the primary recipient of such a large haul.
It is learned that the consignment originated somewhere near Ankleshwar. “It is under investigation whether it was delivered in Ankleshwar or manufactured there. DeshGujarat
