Strong winds, rain in Ahmedabad amid IMD forecast in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The city, reeling under scorching heat with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, suddenly witnessed a change in weather this evening with strong winds and sandstorms. Heavy winds with speeds around 40 km/hr hit the city, leaving the sky hazy and filled with dust at around 5:30 pm. Followed by the winds the city also witnessed rain with a fall temperature.

Rainfall occurred in parts of Botad, Navsari, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha, and Dangs districts of Gujarat today from 2 pm to 4 pm, with Botad receiving the maximum rainfall of up to 20mm.

According to the forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, light thunderstorms/lightning with maximum surface wind speeds less than 40 km/hr, accompanied by light to moderate rain, are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat, namely Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Mahisagar, (Chhota) Udaipur, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, during the next three hours.
