Gandhinagar: Gujarat BJP’s TV panelist Shraddha Rajput has filed a police complaint against a Surat based BJP leader over cheque return and non-payment of lent money.
Based in Bopal, Ahmedabad, Shraddha Rajput (41) identifies herself as a social worker who runs the Shraddha Charitable Foundation and works as a health consultant with the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) in a police complaint.
In her complaint filed at Sector 21 police station in Gandhinagar, she stated that she met Darshini Kothiya in 2018 at GMC, and they met several times thereafter. In September 2022, Kothiya informed Rajput that she was facing significant problems and needed Rs. 5 lakh. Rajput lent Kothiya Rs. 5 lakh in cash with the condition that it would be returned within a year. After a year, Rajput requested her money back. Kothiya provided Rajput with two cheques from the ICICI Bank Surat branch, which failed to clear at the ICICI branch in Gandhinagar. The bank manager subsequently returned the cheques to Kothiya via post.
Rajput further stated in her complaint that Kothiya has neither returned the Rs. 5 lakh nor the returned cheques. Rajput has submitted copies of the cheques issued by Kothiya and the bank’s counter slip to the police along with her complaint.
Upon Rajput’s complaint, the police have booked Darshini Pravinbhai Kothiya, a resident of Punagam in Surat, under IPC sections 406 and 420. According to her Facebook profile, Kothiya is a former Secretary of Gujarat BJP. As per her Instagram profile, she is a politician, advocate, notary, Chairperson of the Health Committee in Surat Municipal Corporation, and a member of Gujarat BJP’s State Executive Committee.
