IMD issues dust storm warning for parts of Gujarat till May 31st

Gandhinagar: After enduring a heatwave for the past few weeks, the state of Gujarat is experiencing relief as temperatures have now dropped. However, now some districts of the state are likely to witness dust storms until May 31st.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, “Light dust storms with maximum surface wind speeds of less than 40 kmph (in gusts) are likely to prevail over Banaskantha, Kutch, Patan, and Surendranagar districts from May 29th to May 31st.”

Dust storms are weather phenomena characterized by strong winds carrying large amounts of dust and sand particles. These storms typically occur in arid or semi-arid regions where loose soil and dry conditions make it easy for wind to pick up dust particles and create a swirling cloud of dust that can reduce visibility and cause other hazards.
