Suspended officers to be questioned in couple of days: Rajkot fire case SIT Chief
May 29, 2024
Gandhinagar: All suspended officers, whether they are IAS, IPS, or fire department officers, will be summoned and questioned within one or two days regarding the inferno at the TRP Gamezone in the city, Subhash Trivedi, the head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), stated today.
Members of the SIT held a meeting with Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, in the state capital of Gandhinagar. After the meeting, SIT head Subhash Trivedi addressed the media, saying, “This is a very unfortunate incident. When we visited the scene, we also felt the same anguish as everyone else, as we are also citizens. Initially, decisions have been made based on the files presented within 24 hours, but that does not mean that any culprit will be spared.”
“All IAS, IPS officers will be questioned. Instructions from the Home Minister are clear that whether it is IAS, IPS, or IFS, they will all be summoned and interrogated within one or two days,” he added.
Regarding the clearing of the game zone area within days of the accident, the senior officer said, “We had to find the people who were missing or dead in a 3000-degree Celsius temperature, so clearing of the areas was not intended to destroy anything but to find out any remains of the missing people or deceased individuals so that DNA and FSL analysis could be conducted to identify them.”
“Whether to register a crime against the suspended officers is subject to investigation of their role, and action will be taken based on that,” the officer said.
Regarding the report of thousands of liters of petrol stored in the gamezone, Trivedi said, “As per the Petroleum Act, if the quantity is more than 30 liters, permission has to be obtained. The FSL team is preparing a report on the matter, and action will be taken based on that report. DeshGujarat
