AMC Birth Certificates now online on Digilocker app; Guide for access
June 05, 2024
Ahmedabad: The birth certificates of Ahmedabad residents will now be available on the go whenever they are needed. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced that all birth certificates issued by the civic body from 1959 onwards, with notation dates up to 2019, are now accessible on the DigiLocker app.
Similar to Aadhar cards or driving licenses, individuals will now be able to obtain their birth certificates online through DigiLocker and will not need to carry the original hard copy at all times.
To access the certificate on the DigiLocker app or website, users must first log in to the platform. They can then search for ‘Ahmedabad’ or ‘Birth Certificate.’ A page will open asking for details such as name, date of birth, and registration number (which will be available on the hard copy of the original birth certificate issued by AMC). After entering these details, users can click on the ‘Get Document’ button to view their certificate online on DigiLocker.
Here is a step-by-step guide to accessing AMC’s Birth Certificates on the DigiLocker Website:
Step 1: Open the DigiLocker App or website: https://www.digilocker.gov.in/home
Step 2: Log in using your mobile number
Step 3: Search for ‘Ahmedabad’ and select the Birth Certificate – Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation option from the search results
Step 4: Fill in the required details on the page, such as Name, DOB, Registration Number, and Mobile number
Step 5: Click the consent checkbox after reading it
Step 6: Click on ‘Get Document,’ and you now have access to your Birth Certificate at all times.
DigiLocker is a digital platform offered by the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology as part of its Digital India campaign. It enables users to access digital copies of various documents, such as driver’s licenses, vehicle registration certificates, and academic transcripts, on the go from the DigiLocker app or website.
