Gang involved in 31 theft cases of 5G mobile tower batteries across Gujarat nabbed

Aravalli: The Aravalli Local Crime Branch (LCB) has apprehended an inter-state gang involved in stealing valuable 5G mobile tower batteries across Gujarat. Two accused were arrested yesterday, and 11 stolen batteries have been recovered, while four other gang members remain at large.

A total of 31 theft cases related to 5G mobile tower batteries were reported across 9 districts in Gujarat, prompting a coordinated investigation by the Aravalli LCB. The gang, hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, targeted the Jio company’s towers at 59 locations in Gujarat. Complaints were registered across 31 police stations of the state.

3 FIRs at Modasa Rural and Tintoi police stations in Aravalli district led to the involvement of Aravalli LCB. They used technical surveillance and CCTV footage analysis. The LCB team identified suspicious activities and intercepted a vehicle near Kishorpura Chokdi during night patrolling. Driver Anas alias Sonu Shamsher Gaju Chaudhari was arrested on the spot and stolen batteries and tools were recovered.

During interrogation, Anas confessed to his involvement and disclosed details about the gang’s operations, including their modus operandi and the distribution of stolen goods. LCB arrested one of his associates, Joheb Israr Qureshi, in Ahmedabad.

The seized items, including a car valued at ₹5 lakh and batteries worth ₹1.10 lakhs, along with tools used in the thefts, have been recovered. All 31 cases registered across different police stations in Gujarat have been linked to this gang. DeshGujarat
