Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat today, in a letter to Chief Medical Officers of all district Panchayats and Medical Officers of Health in all municipal corporations, has asked them to raise awareness among the people about fraudulent calls regarding the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
The letter from Nayan P. Jani, Additional Director (Family Welfare), Government of Gujarat, states, “Various schemes under the Department of Women and Child Development and Family Welfare provide financial assistance to beneficiaries. One of these schemes is the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) / Namosree. It has been brought to our attention that some beneficiaries are receiving phone calls asking if they have received benefits under the scheme. Those who haven’t received benefits are then asked to provide details such as Aadhaar number, bank account information, and OTP. This information is then used to withdraw money from the beneficiaries’ bank accounts without their knowledge.”
“The Department of Women and Child Development and Family Welfare does not ask for any details in this manner. The district and municipal administration is asked to communicate to all beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) / Namosree about these fraudulent calls and ask them not to share any information in hope of benefits.”
The letter also states that action will be taken against the responsible person if this information is not disseminated. The officials are asked to approach local cybercrime police in case of such calls. DeshGujarat
