Ahmedabad: During the ongoing drive against wrong-side commuters, the traffic police on Wednesday found over 1 kg of unaccounted gold in an SUV they stopped in the Odhav area.

The cops spotted the SUV driving against traffic around 6:30 pm on Wednesday and halted the vehicle. While three passengers attempted to flee, they were apprehended, but three others managed to escape. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officials found two leather bags containing 1,126.96 grams of gold powder, valued at Rs 80,07,025.

The passengers, Shubham Pethiwala and Bhuvneshwarsinh Sodha from Bikaner in Rajasthan, and Mohammed Faraz from Churu in Rajasthan, did not possess any invoices or purchase documents.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that an individual named Dharma from Rajasthan had instructed the trio to retrieve his package from Ahmedabad. Later, a man named Rajesh delivered the gold powder to them near Indira Bridge.
