SGST raids 9 rolling mills in North Gujarat, uncovers Rs 393 crore fake billing scam

Ahmedabad: Enforcement officials from the State Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department conducted raids on nine rolling mills across North Gujarat, including Mehsana, Unjha, and Vijapur. They uncovered a fake billing scam of Rs 393 crore, and fraudulent claim of input tax credit (ITC) totaling Rs 70.71 crore.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with this case as per Section 132(1)(c) of the GST law: Arvind Vitthalbhai Patel of Nilkanth Alloy, Krupeshkumar Rameshchandra Patel of Capco Alloy Private Limited, and Jashminkumar Laxmanbhai Patel, a partner at Pramukh Industries.
The arrested individuals allegedly availed themselves of input tax credit (ITC) amounting to Rs 34.27 crore through fraudulent means, using fake bills totaling Rs 190.43 crore. They are currently in police remand until July 3, following their court appearance in Ahmedabad.
