Assembly seat-wise results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: The detailed results of the 2024 Lok Sabha General Elections are out, and a glance at the assembly segment-wise results provides a clearer picture of what transpired at the ground level for all political parties in the fray in the state of Gujarat. In these polls, for the first time in 10 years, the Congress Party managed to win one Lok Sabha seat, Banaskantha. However, this does not necessarily mean that all assembly segments in the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat favoured Congress.

If we analyse the data, out of the seven assembly segments that fall under the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat, the BJP was ahead in four, while Congress led only in the Danta (ST), Palanpur, and Deodar assembly segments.

BJP was trailing in only 20 out of 182 assembly seats

Now, examining the assembly seat-wise results of the 2024 Lok Sabha General Elections for the entire state of Gujarat, we see that out of 182 assembly seats, the BJP was trailing in only 20 seats.

The assembly segments where BJP trailed include Dariapur, where it was behind by 854 votes, followed by Dharampur (ST) with a margin of 4,025 votes and Anklav with 8,836 votes.

In Danta (ST) and Kankrej, BJP trailed by 11,018 and 15,208 votes, respectively, while Nizar (ST) and Mandvi (ST) recorded deficits of 15,648 and 18,871 votes.

In Jamalpur-Khadia and Deodar, the BJP trailed by 20,354 and 20,576 votes, respectively, and the Kaprada (ST) seat had a gap of 23,226 votes. Danilimda (SC) and Sidhpur saw margins of 24,164 and 24,609 votes. Vyara (ST) and Khedbrahma (ST) recorded deficits of 24,863 and 25,257 votes, while Palanpur saw BJP trailing by 29,150 votes.

Bhiloda (ST) and Vansda (ST) had margins of 30,804 and 31,778 votes, and Jhagadia (ST) recorded 35,890 votes. Vadgam (SC) saw a significant gap of 40,271 votes, and Dediapada (ST), a tribal-dominated seat, marked the highest margin, with BJP trailing by 58,178 votes.

This detailed analysis also provides insights into the seats where victory margins were large and the assembly segments where the winning candidates had close contests.

Top 10 Seats Where BJP Won with Massive Margins

The top 10 assembly constituencies where BJP won by the highest margins include Choryasi with 221,931 votes, followed by Ghatlodia with 218,303 votes and Kamrej with 163,256 votes. In the Daskroi seat, the BJP secured a win with a margin of 137,697 votes, while in Kalol and Halol the victory margin was 123,471 and 122,928 votes, respectively. Shehra saw a victory margin of 119,537 votes; Majura followed with 117,822 votes, and in Sabarmati, the winner registered a margin of 115,932 votes. Gandevi (ST) rounded off the list with a winning margin of 115,413 votes. In all these top 10 seats, the vote margin is over 1 lakh votes.

10 Seats Where the Victory Margin was Narrowest

Meanwhile, the 10 seats where BJP clinched victory with the lowest margins include Patan, where the party won by 9,157 votes; Petlad with a margin of 7,877 votes; and Borsad with 3,324 votes. In Jetpur (ST), BJP secured victory by 1,961 votes, while Abdasa and Dangs (ST) saw even narrower margins of 1,771 and 1,700 votes, respectively. Vav and Dhanera, both in the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat, recorded margins of 1,661 and 1,650 votes. Mangrol (Junagadh) witnessed a razor-thin win with just 305 votes, while Talala in the same Lok Sabha seat saw the closest contest, with BJP winning by only 33 votes.
