Gandhidham: Salmaben Sulaiman Gandhi, the Vice President of the Gandhidham City Congress, has found herself at the center of a police investigation following the misuse of her licensed crop protection firearm by someone else. The controversy erupted after a photograph surfaced on social media showing Mavjibhai Koli, a known habitual criminal, holding the firearm, which had been given to him by Gandhi.
The incident came to light when the photograph, which went viral on Instagram under the handle kapil.koli.1610092, drew the attention of local authorities. The police promptly launched an investigation and subsequently filed a case against both Salma and Koli. During the inquiry, both individuals admitted that the firearm in question was indeed Salma’s and was legally licensed for crop protection purposes.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) seized a double-barrel bore gun, valued at approximately Rs. 25,000, from Koli which belonged to Salma. The police have also confiscated the firearm’s license and registered a case against both Salma and Koli at the A-Division police station.
Authorities have noted that Koli has a troubling history, with 24 offenses registered against him at the local police station. The latest incident has raised significant concerns about the misuse of licensed weapons and the potential implications for public safety.
The Gandhidham City Congress has yet to release an official statement regarding the situation. As the investigation continues, both Salma and Koli are expected to face legal repercussions for their actions. The police have emphasized the importance of adhering to legal regulations surrounding firearm ownership and the potential consequences of failing to do so. DeshGujarat
