Four gates of Ukai dam opened; over 45,000 cusecs discharge at noon

Surat: For the first time in ongoing monsoon season, gates of Ukai dam are opened for release of water in downstream river Tapi towards Surat. Four gates were opened on August 6 at 4 pm for less than 40,000 cusecs water. The outflow has increased to over 45,000 today. The dam is 76.25 percent full with over 60,000 cusecs inflow and over 45,000 cusecs outflow.
The water level at 1 pm today was 101.98 m against rule level of 102.11 m. It is beleived that the rule level will be achieved in a day or two. The level of 102.11 m will then have to be maintained upto 1st September, meaning outflow will be matched to inflow. The full reservoir level is 105.16 m. DeshGujarat
