Commuters face trouble as one side of Shastri Bridge in Ahmedabad shut since Dec 23

Ahmedabad: Commuters are facing trouble as only one side of the Shastri Bridge over the Sabarmati River in the city is open for traffic. One side of this bridge, which connects Vishala to Narol, has remained closed since last year as the NHAI is carrying out repairs on the 40-year-old dilapidated bridge.
Travelers are facing hours-long traffic jams due to the heavy flow of vehicles. Furthermore, the bridge has also developed potholes during the monsoon, which is causing further slowdowns in traffic movement.
One side of the bridge was shut for traffic for four months starting in the first week of December; however, even after 8.5 months, the repairs are not complete, and traffic flow has not yet resumed.
In June, a picture of this bridge, which connects the Vishala area of Vasna in western Ahmedabad to the industrial areas of Narol and Pirana in eastern Ahmedabad, went viral. The photograph highlighted the urgent need for joint repairs on the 40-year-old structure. DeshGujarat
