Surat-based Suchi Semicon to invest $100 million to set up OSAT facility by Nov 2024

Surat: The city-based semiconductor manufacturing firm Suchi Semicon has announced plans to invest over $100 million to establish Gujarat’s first Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) facility by November 2024.

The initial plant will cover 30,000 square feet and is projected to produce up to 3 million chips daily. This initiative is expected to create around 1,200 jobs, contributing to local economic development.

The new facility will cater to major sectors, including consumer electronics, automobiles, telecommunications, and wearables.

The company intends to provide competitive pricing and high-quality services in the global semiconductor market. Additionally, it has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with engineering institutions like SVNIT (Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology) and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) to promote skill development and build a highly skilled workforce.

Ashok Mehta, Founder of Suchi Semicon, said, “India’s semiconductor industry stands at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation. Our goal is to address the growing global demand for semiconductors while reducing supply chain inefficiencies. By creating up to 1,200 local jobs and leveraging cutting-edge technology, we aim to offer competitive pricing and high-quality services on the global stage.”

Shetal Mehta, Co-Founder of Suchi Semicon, said, “With this investment, we’re not just scaling up production but also empowering the local community through job creation and skill development. This venture will set a new standard for regional semiconductor manufacturing and enhance India’s position as a key player in the global tech arena.”

A company executive told a news channel that, “The state of Gujarat is contributing incentives equivalent to 20 per cent of the project cost. The state government has already sanctioned our project.” DeshGujarat
