AMC auctions hotel on CG Road over property tax default
September 11, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s West Zone Property Tax Department held the auction for Hotel Highland, located on C.G. Road in the city, due to non-payment of property tax amounting to Rs. 1.84 crore despite repeated notices.
The auction took place on September 10, 2024. However, since no bids were received during the auction of Hotel Highland, the property was transferred to the civic body for a token amount of Rs. 1, and Hotel Highland has now been taken over by it.
Jeevanlal Jethalal Patel is known to be the first taxable occupier concerning the outstanding property tax amounting to more than Rs. 1.84 crores. It is learned that the tax for Hotel Highland has remained outstanding for about 17 years, and the defaulters did not pay despite repeated notices issued by the AMC to collect the dues.
It is worth mentioning that the property tax department has about Rs. 15 crores of outstanding property tax in the western zone, and the auction process will continue by valuing the properties of those who have repeatedly received notices. DeshGujarat
