Centre issues status report on Tweet showing damages on Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic corridor

New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a status report regarding tweets highlighting the damages caused to the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor. The reported location is Km 39 of the Sangaria-Rasisar section of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor.

 

As directed by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, the matter has been enquired into and strict action has been taken against responsible officers/agencies.

– Penalty of Rs. 50 Lakh has been imposed on the Contractor for not attending the defects timely.

– The Acting Team Leader and Resident Engineer of Authority Engineer have been terminated due to poor supervision and lapses in the services.

– Services of concerned Site Engineer has also been terminated.

– Concerned PD and Dy.Manager(Tech.) have been issued Show Cause Notice for the lapses.

Although, heavy rain in the area is hindering the maintenance activities, the reported location has been restored/rectified using temporary measures for safe plying of traffic. Photographs of rectification work are attached.

  

Further, the permanent rectification work will be taken up immediately once the rain subsides. Under the guidance of Domain Expert, Prof. K.S. Reddy, IIT Kharagpur engaged for ascertaining the causes of distress and taking remedial measures at the affected stretches of the expressway as recommended by the Domain Expert.
