₹263 crore allocated for Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur High-Speed Corridor Road
September 21, 2024
Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decided to allocate ₹262.56 crore for the development of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur road under the high-speed corridor initiative, the Gujarat government announced today.
In this year’s budget, the state government set aside provisions to develop heavily trafficked highways as high-speed corridors at an estimated cost of ₹3,100 crores. This initiative aims to facilitate transportation through improved road infrastructure and safer routes. Under this provision, six high-speed corridors—including Wataman-Pipli, Surat-Sachin-Navsari, Ahmedabad-Dakor, Bhuj-Bhachau, Rajkot-Bhavnagar, and Mehsana-Palanpur—are currently being developed.
Earlier, the Chief Minister sanctioned the construction of flyovers, vehicular underpasses, and new bridges over three rivers for the 2023-24 period at nine different crossing points on the Mehsana-Unjha-Siddpur-Palanpur highway in North Gujarat. Now, the CM has approved ₹262.56 crore for the construction of one additional flyover and two vehicular underpasses, advancing the development of this robust road network.
To alleviate traffic congestion at the Radhanpur Circle in Mehsana city, a new six-lane flyover bridge will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹136 crore. Additionally, a six-lane vehicular underpass will be built at Nagalpur crossroads at an estimated cost of ₹54.40 crore, and another new six-lane vehicular underpass at Unawa will cost approximately ₹72.16 crore.
As a result of this decision, residents of the North Gujarat region will enjoy easier, safer, and faster road connectivity to Ahmedabad.
It’s also important to note that the Central Government recently approved the National High-Speed Corridor from Tharad to Mehsana-Ahmedabad in August. ₹10,534 crore has been sanctioned for this six-lane National High-Speed Corridor (Expressway), which spans 214 km as part of the Bharatmala project.
