Gandhinagar: Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai today informed that the state government has made an important decision in the realm of renewable energy. From now on, small industries and MSME companies will be able to set up solar parks, wind parks, and hybrid (wind and solar) projects for captive use. Any developer in the state will be able to establish solar parks, wind parks, or hybrid parks. They will be allowed to sell or transfer the power generated in captive facilities or the assets to small and medium-scale industries.
Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai further stated that this decision will be significant for India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and Gujarat’s goal of reaching 100 GW by that time. Kanubhai mentioned that this decision will lead to the commissioning of 300 MW projects. He stated that new projects worth 2 GW will be developed under open access in the next four years, resulting in the creation of 100,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. He emphasized that this decision will lower manufacturing costs for all industries in Gujarat and make their products more competitive in global markets.
