Rainfall subsides in Gujarat; only Amreli taluka had 1 inch+ rain today
September 30, 2024
Amreli: The rainfall, which was very active in parts of Gujarat last week, subsided today, with only one taluka, namely Amreli, receiving over 1 inch of rain between 6 AM and 6 PM. Out of 251 talukas in the state, only 25 witnessed light downpours, while most areas experienced relief as the sun shone after so many days. The four largest cities of Gujarat—namely Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot—also remained dry today.
The Southwest Monsoon is in withdrawal and has retreated from Kutch and some parts of Saurashtra and North Gujarat. Additionally, there is no active system expected to bring rain, and most parts of the state, except South Gujarat, are likely to experience dry weather.
According to the IMD bulletin, “The line of withdrawal of the southwest monsoon continues to pass through Firozpur, Sirsa, Churu, Ajmer, Mount Abu, Deesa, Surendranagar, Junagadh, and 21°N/70°E.”
“The cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat and its neighborhood, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, has become less marked,” the bulletin further states about synoptic conditions.
The IMD, in its latest bulletin, has predicted only light rain in central and South Gujarat until Tuesday, while after that, only South Gujarat is expected to witness light rain until October 6th. This forecast comes as good news for Garba lovers, as Navratri will commence on October 3rd. DeshGujarat
