Western Railway runs Special Trains during festive season of Diwali, Chhath Puja via Gujarat

Surat: To cater to passenger demand, Indian Railways operates special trains during the festive season. This year, around 7,500 special trains are being run by Indian Railways for Chhath and Diwali, compared to 4,500 special trains last year. On November 1, 2024, Indian Railways operated more than 164 special trains, while on November 2, 2024, 168 special trains were run.
According to a press release issued by Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, nearly 300 special trains are being operated by Western Railway this Diwali and Chhath Puja to various destinations, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha. These special trains are in addition to the regular services to these destinations on Western Railway. Additional coaches are also being added to regular trains as per availability and demand.
On November 2, 2024, Western Railway operated 17 special trains, and on November 3, 2024, 18 special trains will be run for passenger convenience.

Shri Vineet further informed that all efforts are being made to publicize special trains and ensure the information reaches the public. Regular updates through Tweets, social media posts, and newspaper publicity are helping to keep passengers informed about additional services. Moreover, Ticket Checking staff, RPF, and GRP staff are guiding passengers through the Public Announcement System. Western Railway has also taken precautionary measures and made elaborate arrangements to manage crowds effectively at stations.
