Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has through a notification declared the roster schedule for election of Mayors in 8 municipal corporations in the State for the next five years term.

As per the notification, Ahmedabad will get the next Mayor from Backward Class for first two and half years and Woman in the second two and half years. Similarly Surat will get Woman and General category Mayors in the next five years term. Vadodara will get Mayors from Schedule Caste and Woman (Backward Class).

For other cities – Rajkot – General category and Woman(Scheule Caste), Bhavnagar – Woman and General, Jamnagar – Woman and General, Junagadh – General and Woman(Backward Class) and Gandhinagar – Backward Class and Woman Mayors for two and half years term each.

Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Rjakot, Surat and Vadodara will go for Municipal Corporation elections in 2026, so as Gandhinagar. The last elections took place in 2021 in these cities. The election for Junagadh Municipal Corporation lastly took place in 2019. The election is due here as the term has ended. DeshGujarat
