Surat: The work of the Dumas Sea Face Development project is ongoing, and in thrilling news for Suratis, a prototype of the INS Surat, the stealth guided-missile destroyer of the Indian Navy, will be installed at the marine-themed seafront on the Dumas shoreline.

INS Surat is the fourth and final ship in the Visakhapatnam-class of destroyers under ‘Project 15B.’ The ship was launched on May 17, 2022, and is currently undergoing sea trials, with commissioning likely by the end of the year. Now, the 35-foot-long and 10-foot-wide prototype of INS Surat will be proudly displayed in Dumas, allowing the people of Surat to view and take pride in it.

This prototype will be the main attraction of the marine-themed project. All necessary formalities with the Navy for placing the INS Surat model at Dumas Beach have been completed by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). A meeting was recently held between SMC and naval officials, during which the decision was made to install the prototype at Dumas Beach. To determine the appropriate location, Mayor Dakshesh Mavani, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal, and Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel visited the Dumas Sea Face project site and selected the spot.

Rajan Patel, Chairman of the Standing Committee, stated that the model of INS Surat will be installed at the Sea Face project to allow Surat’s residents to learn about the valour of the Navy. This addition will also make the Dumas Sea Face project even more attractive and will highlight the city’s maritime heritage. DeshGujarat
