Vadodara: Lok Sabha member representing Vadodara, Dr. Hemang Joshi called on the union Road and Transport minister Nitin Gadkari in national capital and made representation regarding need to widen the narrow bridges at Por and Jambua near Vadodara on the Ahmedabad- Mumbai national highway.

Currently 4-lane wide in size, the bridges of Por and Jambua will be widened, Gadkari assured in the meeting. The bridges witness traffic problem regularly as the form 4-lane narrow portions on the 6 lane national highway. The union minister gave positive response to Joshi’s representation and called officials to instruct them to take up the project.

When Gadkari was in Vadodara on 2nd June last year to dedicate the interlink bridge at Dumad chokdi, then Lok Sabha MP Ranjanben Bhatt had made represenation for widening of Jambua, Bamangam, Por bridges and construction of Chhani underpass. Gadkari had in that event announced Rs. 1,000 crore for Chhani underpass and widening of all bridges on Vadodara – Vapi route on national highway. After one and half year of that announcement, no work has started on that project. Daily thousands of vehicles face traffic jam, especially in peak hours due to narrow width of these bridges.
