Meters to be mandatory for auto rickshaws in Ahmedabad from January 1
December 04, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Police have made fare meter installation mandatory in all auto rickshaws in the city. This rule will come into effect from January 1st, after which any rickshaw driver found operating without a meter will face legal action.
It is noteworthy that the traffic police had received numerous complaints from the public about rickshaw drivers. In response, this rule has been introduced for the convenience of citizens. However, before the rule is enforced, rickshaw drivers have been given time until January 1st to install meters in their rickshaws. After that, it will be mandatory for rickshaw drivers to have meters installed and charge customers according to the meter fare. If rickshaw drivers charge passengers more than the meter fare, legal action will also be taken against them. DeshGujarat
