Stone Attack on Tapti Ganga Train Near Jalgaon Causes Panic Among Kumbh Mela Pilgrims from Surat

Jalgaon: The Tapti Ganga Express, en route from Surat to Prayagraj where Mahakumbh Mela is being held, was attacked with stones near Jalgaon in Maharashtra, shattering the glass window of the B6 coach. The unexpected stone-throwing incident caused panic among the passengers, especially women and children, who were left terrified by the sudden attack.

The train, which departed Surat with a large number of pilgrims heading for the Shahi Snan at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, was traveling through Maharashtra when the attack occurred. The B6 coach, which was carrying a group of 36 passengers from Surat, including five children, six senior citizens, 13 women, and 12 men, became the target of the stone.

The impact of the stone shattered the window glass of the coach, leading to a state of panic among the passengers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident caused significant distress among those onboard.

According to the Central Railway’s PRO, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) responded promptly to the attack. A team of four RPF personnel was immediately deployed on the train to ensure the safety of the passengers. A complaint has also been filed regarding the incident.

The train continued its journey and reached Prayagraj safely in the morning, with railway police continuing to investigate the matter. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to gather further information and identify the culprits responsible for the stone attack. DeshGujarat
