Surat: A major fire broke out at the Awadh Rituraj Textile Hub in the Parvat Gam area of Surat early this morning, damaging around 10 shops on the fifth floor. About 20 fire trucks from nine different stations rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire within an hour. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the shops were empty at the time.

According to preliminary information, Pinkesh Textile operated on the fifth floor of the building, from shop numbers 3065 to 3075. Suddenly, the shop caught fire in the morning. The sarees and cloth stored in the shop quickly ignited, causing the fire to spread rapidly and take on a fierce form. The fire was so intense that plumes of smoke could be seen from far and wide.

When the fire department was informed about the blaze, more than 20 vehicles and fire brigade teams from over eight nearby fire stations immediately arrived at the scene. They managed to control the fire after about an hour by using water jets. Since no one was present in the shops at the time, no casualties were reported. Other traders also breathed a sigh of relief as the fire department prevented the flames from spreading further.

The sarees and cloth stored in about 10 shops were burnt to ashes. Additionally, some computers were also destroyed, leading to fears that traders have suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees. After the fire was brought under control, a thorough inspection was conducted. Even after the fire was extinguished, a fire engine remained on standby at the market.
