Gandhinagar: As more and more people from Surat are wishing to visit the Maha Kumbh mela at Prayagraj, the local Lok Sabha member of Surat Mukesh Dalal has urged the Gujarat government to start the daily AC Volvo bus service connecting Surat to Prayagraj. Dalal has written a letter to Minister of State for Transport, Harsh Sanghavi demanding the same.

The State government has recently launched Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) daily AC Volvo bus service from Ahmedabad to Prayagraj with provision of a halt at Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh. The booking for Ahmedabad – Prayagraj Kumbh Mela special bus service of GSRTC has attracted huge response and bookings are full for all buses for remaining days of Maha Kumbh Mela.

While appreciating this decision, Surat Lok Sabha MP Mukesh Dalal has in his letter to Sanghavi pointed out that demand is growing for introduction of similar AC Volvo bus service between Surat and Prayagraj, so that people from Surat can also reach Prayagraj in large number.

It’s worth noting pilgrims are facing issues in getting train tickets to Prayagraj even after launch of several special trains. Also three special flights are started connecting Ahmedabad to Prayagraj but seats are not available or they are available for too high fare.

Currently, millions of devotees are taking a dip in the historic Kumbh Mela being held in Prayagraj after 144 years. You have taken a very good decision to start buses from Ahmedabad to Prayagraj for the religious and devout people of Gujarat. Congratulations on this. According to the information received, all the buses have been fully booked in a very short time, which shows the success of this decision.

Many people from Surat have approached me saying that buses should be run from Surat on the same pattern as Ahmedabad, so that people of Surat do not have to go all the way to Ahmedabad. Thousands of devotees in Surat are eagerly waiting for the start of Volvo buses from Surat to Prayagraj. This decision will benefit millions of people in Surat and South Gujarat by giving them the benefit and joy of taking a bath in the Ganges from their homes.
