Waaree announces ground-breaking ceremony of its Electrolyser Manufacturing plant in Valsad

Surat: Waaree Group, India’s largest manufacturer of solar PV modules, today announced that the ground-breaking ceremony of its Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility in Valsad, Gujarat, took place on February 10th. The facility will initially commence operations with a production capacity of 300 MW in Phase-I, positioning it as a cornerstone in India’s clean energy transition.
Waaree in a press release informed – As part of its strategic expansion into clean energy technologies, Waaree’s state-of-the-art Alkaline Electrolyser manufacturing plant aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The facility will cater to key industries such as steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation, enabling their transition to decarbonized processes. By localizing the production of electrolysers- vital for generating green hydrogen- Waaree in a statement said it aims to reduce India’s dependency on imports and strengthen its position as a global hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia and other e-fuels.
Anuj Sharma, CEO of Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd., commented, “The ground-breaking ceremony of our Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility is a significant step towards making India self-reliant in green hydrogen production technologies.”
The facility according to Waaree will produce electrolysers for large-scale green hydrogen production. Designed for low power consumption and flexible operations, these electrolysers will offer performance with minimal maintenance. The facility will also include automated assembly lines for electrolyser stacks.
Waaree has recently won Production Linked Incentive (PLI) for 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity and for 90,000 MT per annum of Green Hydrogen production under SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) scheme of Government of India. DeshGujarat
