Amreli: Two lions were captured on Tuesday after one of them attacked and killed a seven-year-old boy in Paniya village of Amreli early in the morning.
The victim, identified as Rahul Bariya, was the son of a migrant worker from Jhabua district in Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Tuesday when Rahul’s father, Naru, woke up after hearing a noise and found his son missing. Upon seeing the drag marks, he and other family members followed them for some distance and found the lion devouring the boy’s body in the bushes. As they screamed, the lion fled, and the family informed the forest department.
Upon receiving the information, RFO B.G. Galani of Liliya Range rushed to the scene with his staff. Cages were set up to capture the lion responsible for the attack. The forest department has taken two lions from the area and shifted them to the Animal Care Center in Kankrach.
The forest officer stated that vomit and feces samples of the captured lions will be examined by the FSL to determine which lion was responsible for the child’s death.
Reports indicate that the lion had consumed over 60% of the boy’s body, and the remains were sent for a postmortem. DeshGujarat
