Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Progress update on Navsari-Surat Package 7 of Vadodara-Virar section

Navsari: The construction of the eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is progressing in two sections, one of which is the Vadodara-Virar section. This Vadodara-Virar section consists of 10 packages, and Package 7 connects the Kharel Interchange (near Gandeva) in Navsari to the Ena Interchange in Surat district.

Package 7 is approximately 28 kilometers long, and IRB is handling its construction. Today, we bring you a ground report on this package based on vloggers’ insights and on-site footage.

As we begin our journey northward, the Kharel Interchange is being developed around 300 meters away from NH 48. Here, the PQC (Pavement Quality Concrete) laying work has been completed on the main alignment, while DLC (Dry Lean Concrete) work is in progress on the entry and exit roads. Meanwhile, earthwork is underway on segments of the approach road. Moving ahead from the interchange, PQC laying work has been completed, with lane marking and side crash barrier installation in progress.

Further along, the alignment of the expressway crosses the Ambika River, where bridge construction has been completed. The bridge is connected to the alignment on one side, while earthwork continues on the other. As we move forward, PQC laying work is nearly complete, except for a few small patches.

Continuing ahead, the expressway crosses State Highway 180 near Sapro village. Here, a bridge has been erected, and approach road work is ongoing. In most of the alignment, PQC laying work is complete, with lane marking and side crash barriers installed up to the Purna River.

At the Purna River, the bridge connecting both banks is ready and integrated into the alignment. Some patches are still undergoing GSB (Granular Sub Base), DLC, and PQC work.

Further along, PQC laying and lane marking have been completed, and a bridge has been erected at the point where State Highway 707 crosses. Here, approach road work for the bridge is still in progress.

Moving ahead, we reach the location where the alignment crosses NH 56 in Ena, where a long bridge is under construction, with work progressing rapidly. After this bridge, package 7 ends just beyond the Surat Interchange.

Conclusion:

PQC laying work is nearly 80% complete in this package, with only a few patches and bridge work pending. Some work at the Kharel Interchange remains unfinished, and wayside amenities have not yet been developed. It is likely that this package will be completed within the next six months.
