Female video leak case: Ahmedabad Police identifies 22 Telegram channels

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Cybercrime Police secured a nine-day remand for the three accused arrested from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for allegedly selling videos of women undergoing check-ups at a Rajkot gynecology hospital. During the probe, it has come to light that the accused operated at least 22 Telegram channels, earning around ₹8 lakh in a year.

On February 19, police arrested Prajwal Ashok Teli (Latur, Maharashtra), Praj Rajendra Patil (Sangli, Maharashtra), and Chandraprakash Phoolchand (Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh) and brought them to Ahmedabad on transit remand.

The accused are reportedly part of a gang that hacked CCTV footage from the gynecological examination room of a maternity home in Rajkot and sold the videos for up to ₹2,000. The case came to light during a social media monitoring, which led the Cybercrime Police to file an FIR under Sections 66(e) and 67 of the Information Technology Act on February 17. Later, the police added BNS Sections 61 and 77, along with IT Act Sections 43(b), 66, and 66(f)(2), to the complaint.

Investigations revealed that the trio ran these channels under the name “Megha Demos Group,” using platforms such as “CCTV Injection Group,” “Labor Room Injection Group,” and “Ganga River Open Bathing Group” to sell illicit videos. Cybercrime officials disclosed that some of the content included secretly recorded footage from hospital labor rooms, medical examinations, and public places like bus stands, marriage halls, parlors, and even the Ganga River, where people perform holy baths.

Further investigation is ongoing, with police working to trace hackers from Romania and Atlanta (USA), who were allegedly in contact with the accused.
