Two students caught cheating using ChatGPT in CBSE board exam in Surat
February 22, 2025
Surat: Amid the ongoing board exams in schools affiliated with CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), two separate cases of malpractice have been registered in the city, where students were caught cheating using an AI application.
Two Class 12 students were caught on Friday using the AI application ChatGPT to write answers in the Physics examination. Both students have been punished under the new rules, which bar them from appearing for the board examination for two years—2025-26 and the next academic year, 2026-27.
One student was caught at Swaminarayan Mission School in Laskana, while the other was caught at Maheshwari Vidyapeeth School in Piplod. These two schools serve as centers for the CBSE board exams.
It has come to light that both students had concealed mobile phones in their underwear. They went to the washroom, searched for answers using ChatGPT, and wrote the responses by placing their mobiles under the paper in class. They were caught by the supervisor. DeshGujarat
