President Murmu takes road route to Ekta Nagar after helicopter landing snag
February 26, 2025
Vadodara: President Droupadi Murmu had to undertake a 90-km road journey from Vadodara on Wednesday after a possible technical issue prevented her helicopter from landing at the helipad in Ekta Nagar (formerly Kevadia) in Narmada district. Her four-day visit to Gujarat began with delays and the cancellation of scheduled events at the Statue of Unity on Wednesday.
Officials at Vadodara airport confirmed that the helicopter assigned for her travel returned midway after aborting its landing attempt at Ekta Nagar around 5:15 pm. Following the incident, President Murmu’s convoy departed Vadodara after 6 pm as part of an alternate security plan. Her scheduled visit to the Statue of Unity, a laser show, and the Narmada aarti was subsequently called off. She was received at Vadodara airport by Governor Acharya Devvrut, Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, and Mayor Pinky Soni. DeshGujarat
