Gujarat launches online portal for submitting suggestions, opinions on Uniform Civil Code

Gandhinagar: A meeting of Gujarat’s UCC Committee was held in the state capital today under the chairmanship of retired Justice Ranjana Desai.
In this meeting, the Chairperson of the UCC Committee, Justice Ranjana Desai, appealed to the residents of Gujarat to send suggestions on the UCC. She stated that before the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in the state, an online portal, http://uccgujarat.in, has been launched to enable residents of Gujarat, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, social groups and communities, religious organizations, and political parties, including Gujarat-based organizations, to submit their suggestions and views on the Uniform Civil Code. Suggestions and views can also be sent by post to Block No. 1, A-Wing, 6th Floor, Karmayogi Bhavan, Sector-10-A, Gandhinagar, by March 24, 2025.
The committee also held discussions today with various commissions of the state government, representatives of religious institutions, and political parties, gathering their suggestions and views.
It is worth mentioning that the state government has constituted a high-level committee under the chairmanship of retired Justice Ranjana Desai to examine the need for a Uniform Civil Code in the state and to prepare a draft code. This committee includes Shri C.L. Meena, Shri R.C. Kodekar, Shri Dakshesh Thakar, and Shri Gitaben Shroff as members.
