From ADGP to constable, female cops to oversee security during PM Modi’s Gujarat visit on Women’s Day

Navsari: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his home state of Gujarat on March 7 and 8, covering Surat and Navsari. During his visit to Navsari on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, the security arrangements will be overseen by female police officers and personnel, as stated by Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi.

Female police officers and personnel have been deployed to oversee security, law, and order arrangements. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Nipuna Torawane, a 2000-batch IPS officer, will be monitoring the arrangements, which include the deployment of one IGP-level officer, five SPs, 19 DySPs, 61 police inspectors, 187 sub-inspectors, and over 2000 constables.

Addressing the media, Sanghavi said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan.’ Over 1.5 lakh women are expected to participate, making this program one of a kind. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Gujarat Police has initiated a unique experiment—the first of its kind—where the responsibility of maintaining law and order during the PM’s program has been entrusted to female officers.”

“This program will surely make a new milestone in the field of policing. All aspects of law and order and other management will be managed by women officers and staff. Around 2165 women constables, 187 women PSIs, 61 women PIs, 19 women DySPs, five women DSPs, one woman IGP, and one ADGP will take charge of this whole event and make it most wonderful and historical,” MoS Home added.
