March 07, 2025
Surat: The 60-day block on platforms 2 and 3 at Surat railway station, initially set to end on March 8, has been extended until March 31. This means that the stoppage of 201 trains shifted to Udhna station will continue. The Surat Integrated Transportation Development Corporation (SITCO) has requested 23 additional days from the railways to complete the foundation work for the concourse. So far, 80% of the foundation work for the air concourse on platforms 2 and 3 has been completed, with the remaining 20% expected to be finished within the next 23 days.
A multimodal transportation hub (MMTH) is being developed at Surat station to transform it into a world-class facility. As part of this project, in Phase 2, platforms 2 and 3 were initially blocked for 60 days (from January 8 to March 8) for the foundation work of the air concourse. However, this block has now been extended by 23 days, meaning it will now continue until March 31. SITCO has requested Western Railway for additional time to complete the groundwork.
Due to the extended block, 122 up-line Mail Express trains, which previously stopped at Surat platform 2, and 79 down-line trains, which stopped at Surat platform 1, will continue to halt at Udhna station until March 31. Meanwhile, 62 trains, including Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, Tejas, Paschim, Suryanagari, and Awadh Express, will continue to operate from platforms 1 and 4 at Surat station. DeshGujarat
