March 09, 2025
Anand: The Nadiad division of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has announced plans to operate 500 extra buses to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the Holi and Dhuleti festivals. The additional buses will run from March 10th to 14th, with the highest number of buses deployed on the Ahmedabad-Dakor route.
The GSRTC will operate a total of 1,200 extra buses, making 7,100 extra trips across the state from March 10th to 16th. Of these, 400 buses will be dedicated to the route connecting Ahmedabad and other locations to Dakor, a popular pilgrimage site.
The Nadiad ST Division will run 500 extra trips over five days, from March 10th to 14th. According to the Divisional Controller of Nadiad ST, these extra buses are being deployed to manage the increased passenger load during the festive period. He also mentioned that more than 500 extra buses could be deployed if needed, and the buses will be operated in phases to avoid inconvenience to regular passengers.
The Nadiad ST Division has 11 depots and a total fleet of 751 buses. Buses from all depots will be used for the extra trips. However, routes with lower revenue and those affected by student holidays during the festival period will be adjusted to accommodate the increased demand.
The Holi-Dhuleti festival is eagerly awaited by people, and the Nadiad ST Division is preparing to meet the transportation needs of the public. A large number of pilgrims are expected to visit the renowned Ranchhodrai Temple in Dakor for the Phagani Poonam festival. It is estimated that more than five lakh pilgrims, including many who will travel on foot, will visit Dakor from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Panchmahal, and other places. Buses will be arranged to transport these pilgrims back to their destinations. DeshGujarat
