Heatwave likely to prevail in many districts of Gujarat till March 12: IMD forecast
March 10, 2025
Kutch: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, has issued a yellow warning for a heatwave in most districts of Saurashtra-Kutch and other districts of Gujarat over the next three days, until March 12. The heatwave is expected to cause discomfort as hot and humid weather will prevail across the region, even though summer officially began just eight days ago.
IMD’s forecast for the next seven days indicates a gradual rise in temperatures and states:
• No significant change in maximum temperatures over the next three days; thereafter, a drop of 2-3°C is expected across the region.
• Maximum temperatures are likely to range between 40-42°C over the next 2-3 days in the interior parts of Saurashtra-Kutch, adjoining parts of North Gujarat, and some parts of South Gujarat. Due to this, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in these areas.
• No major change in minimum temperatures over the next 48 hours; however, a drop of 2-3°C is likely thereafter.
• Hot and humid conditions are expected along the coastal areas of South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch over the next three days (March 10-12, 2025).

Vulnerable groups, including infants, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions, face a higher risk of heat-related health issues.
Suggested Actions:
Avoid prolonged heat exposure—stay indoors, cool, and hydrated.
Drink plenty of water, even if not thirsty.
Consume ORS (oral rehydration solution) and homemade drinks such as lassi, torani (rice water), lemon water, and buttermilk to stay hydrated. DehsGujarat
