Sachin GIDC members approach DGVCL MD over Frequent power outages
March 10, 2025
Surat: Frequent power supply interruptions in the Sachin GIDC area have reportedly caused losses worth crores to industries. In response, Sachin Industrial Co-Op Society Ltd. has now approached the Managing Director of DGVCL (Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited).
To address the long-standing issue of power interruptions, Sachin Industrial Co-Op Society Ltd. has made a formal representation. Currently, five substations are operational at the Sachin Sub-Division Office of DGVCL in Sachin Industrial Estate, covering approximately 97 feeders. These feeders supply power to around 2,250 small and large industries. In an effort to provide quality power to the industries in Sachin Colony, overhead power lines from all substations in the area were replaced with underground cabling in 2019-20. However, this has not resolved the power outage and quality issues.
Frequent power tripping and faults in most feeders, along with recurring failures at the 220 KV Talangpur substation, have resulted in complete power failures in the Sachin GIDC substations. Industrial production in areas including Sachin GIDC, Laxmi Industrial Park, Diamond Industrial Park, and Hojiwala has been severely affected.
Industrialists also stated that repeated power supply interruptions not only bring production to a halt but also damage expensive electronic components in advanced machinery due to sudden outages, leading to massive financial losses. DeshGujarat
