Stone pelting during victory procession in Dehgam after India’s Champions Trophy win

Gandhinagar: Clashes broke out between two groups in the Kasba area of Dehgam following India’s win in the Champions Trophy on Sunday night. India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final played in Dubai to secure its third title, after which a victory procession was taken out in the city. However, tensions escalated after a scuffle erupted during the victory celebration, leading to alleged stone-pelting on the procession.

As the clash intensified, more than 15 vehicles were vandalized. Two people were reportedly attacked with sticks and, after suffering injuries, were rushed to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital. Following the violence, traders in the area shut their shops, and an atmosphere of fear spread among the locals.

As the situation worsened, senior police officers reached Dehgam, and a large police force was deployed. The police worked to disperse the crowd, and patrolling has been increased in the affected areas to prevent further unrest.

The administration is taking strict measures to maintain peace in the town. Officials have stated that legal action will be taken against those involved in provocative activities. While the situation is currently partially under control, the area remains sensitive, and authorities have urged locals to maintain peace. DeshGujarat
