Delayed treatment, misconduct complain against Rajkot Civil Hospital

Rajkot: The negligence and alleged misconduct of doctors at the city’s Civil Hospital have come into focus after renowned comedian Hakabha Gadhvi expressed his grievances through a viral video. In the video, he made strong allegations against the Civil Hospital administration after taking his sister there for treatment following an accident.

In the viral video, Gadhvi, who hails from Morbi, stated, “I had such a terrible experience. The government provides full support, but the hospital staff does not pay any attention. The Civil Hospital has facilities comparable to private hospitals, yet no one seems to care. The CT scan was done in 5 hours; a person could die in five hours! There were 10-12 beds lined up. There are CCTV cameras there; you can check. I insisted, ‘Take this person in immediately.’ But the doctor spoke to me as if I were a fool. He didn’t call us in when it was our turn and instead told us to sit aside. I said, ‘I am Hakabha Gadhvi, an artist. If this is how you treat someone like me, how do you treat an ordinary person?’ I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just that serious cases should be prioritized.

“Despite everything, the CT scan was done after 5 hours, and the brain specialist arrived only at 3 hours. I urge the government and the health minister to take this issue seriously. The Civil Hospital in Rajkot is crucial for the poor. If this is the situation, you should send someone to experience it firsthand. The service is so poor that even when I called a minister, the hospital staff showed no respect. No one paid attention, even though I was accompanied by responsible people,” he added.

“Gadhvi also urged the media to visit Rajkot Civil Hospital and speak to patients about the conditions there. Following this, media reports suggested that doctors do not treat people properly and fail to provide answers to patients.

One woman, who brought her daughter to the hospital after a fever following a post-operative procedure, stated, ‘No one gives us any answers. We arrive in the morning and return home in the evening. We have come from Gondal, yet we do not receive any valid response.’

Another woman claimed that her husband had been admitted to the hospital for 6-7 days. He had an MRI scheduled for yesterday. Although he was taken for the scan at 8:30 PM, his turn only came at midnight. Even seriously ill patients are made to stand in line and wait for their procedure.

It has also come to light that media personnel were not allowed to enter the hospital premises when they tried to report on the situation. DeshGujarat
