Way for Visavadar by-poll cleared as BJP’s Harshad Ribadiya withdraws HC petition

Visavadar: BJP leader Harshad Ribadiya has withdrawn his petition challenging the victory of Bhupat Bhayani from the Visavadar seat in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly election. This move paves the way for the announcement of by-elections for the seat.
In the 2022 elections, Aam Aadmi Party’s Bhupat Bhayani won the Visavadar Assembly seat. BJP’s Harshad Ribadiya had challenged his victory in the High Court, alleging irregularities. However, Bhayani later resigned from the Gujarat Assembly as an AAP MLA and joined the BJP. Since the petition was still pending in the Gujarat High Court, the by-election process in Visavadar was halted. Now, with Ribadiya withdrawing his petition, the election process can move forward.
On the other hand, the Kadi Assembly seat also became vacant following the death of its MLA, Karsanbhai Solanki, making a by-election inevitable. Now, by-elections for both Visavadar and Kadi may be announced in the coming months.
Both Visavadar and Kadi are expected to witness a three-way battle between the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party, with the BJP aiming to retain the Kadi seat and secure a victory in Visavadar. DeshGujarat
