Land Acquisition Process Underway for Sabarmati Barrage-Cum-Bridge project in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The construction of a barrage-cum-bridge to improve connectivity along the Sabarmati, linking the powerhouse area to Sadar Bazaar, is ongoing. Today, the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. shared an update regarding the connectivity of the barrage-cum-bridge on both sides of the river.
As per SRFDCL, the barrage-cum-bridge on the eastern side connects Airport Road near Sadar Bazaar. This section falls under the jurisdiction of the Defence Estate Officer (Gujarat Circle, Ahmedabad) and the Chief Executive Officer (Ahmedabad Cantonment Board). The land from Shahibaug Dafnala to Indira Bridge is part of the cantonment area. As per orders from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, issued on February 19, 2020, and November 11, 2020, it has been allotted with an annual license fee of ₹1 per square meter.
Meanwhile, on the western side, the barrage-cum-bridge connects Chimanbhai Bridge to the main road leading to Kalol, passing near the Bullet Train Station and Torrent Power. A proposal has been submitted to acquire land from Torrent Power’s TP-23 final plots 872 and 613, which are yet to be acquired. DeshGujarat
