No Vande Bharat Express halt at Anand in effect; no mention on IRCTC booking site
March 13, 2025
Anand: Anand Lok Sabha MP Mitesh Patel had announced a few days ago that the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express train would get a stoppage at Anand Junction. However, even after 15 days of that announcement, the train has not been allotted a stoppage at Anand Junction.
According to the IRCTC website, Anand is not listed as a halt, nor is booking available for the Vande Bharat Express from Anand. This has rendered the MP’s announcement to be hollow.
Taking to Instagram, MP Mitesh Patel had stated that after making an effective presentation to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Ministry had informed him telephonically about the approval of the train’s stoppage at Anand Railway Station. Patel gained widespread attention for claiming that the train had been granted a stoppage. However, despite the announcement made on February 25, the stoppage remains unimplemented.
Several passengers are frustrated as they are unable to travel from Anand to Mumbai on the Vande Bharat Express, the fastest train on this route.
Notably, the Vande Bharat Express, after departing from Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar, stops at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali before reaching Mumbai Central. With four existing stops in Gujarat, the proposed halt at Anand would have been the fifth one. However, the railways has yet to issue an official confirmation or update the train’s schedule.
