Mahisagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed two individuals for demanding and accepting a ₹20,000 bribe.
According to the ACB, the complainant had been granted a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with the first and second installments deposited into their bank account. Accused Digvijaysinh Abhesinh Puwar (54), from Dadhaliya, acting on behalf of Arvindbhai Bhurabhai Vagadiya (45) from Thakorna Nadhra, Kadana taluka, whose daughter is the Sarpanch, demanded ₹20,000 from the complainant. Accused Arvindbhai used to carry out the duties of the Sarpanch in lieu of his daughter. The bribe was sought in exchange for facilitating the approval process for the housing scheme.
The complainant, refusing to pay the bribe, reached out to the Mahisagar ACB for assistance. Acting swiftly on the information, ACB officials set up a trap, where the accused were apprehended while accepting the bribe money in an open area in front of a local kirana store.
