Surat: In the ongoing crackdown against extortionists in the city, Surat police have booked 11 notorious individuals under PASA (Gujarat Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act, 1985) for their involvement in extortion. Some of the accused were apprehended during a combing operation in Udhna, Bhestan, and Padesara areas of the city.
Among those booked are Gabru Bharwad and Ramesh Jangid. Gabru was previously involved in an attack on a mobile shop owner in the Sachin area. While two of his associates were arrested, he fled and kept changing locations to evade capture. He was eventually traced to Rajasthan and arrested with the assistance of local police.
