AMC to revamp two ponds for ₹8.17 crore

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced the redevelopment of Hebatpur and Mumatpura ponds as part of a city-wide initiative to deepen and restore lakes. With a budget of ₹8.17 crore, the project aims to enhance rainwater storage, recharge groundwater, and create recreational spaces for residents.

Dilip Bagaria, chairman of the AMC Water Committee, stated that the initiative aligns with the city’s environmental efforts, which include tree plantations, groundwater conservation, and lake restoration.

Hebatpur Lake in Thaltej will undergo redevelopment at a cost of ₹3.86 crore, while Mumatpura Lake in Jodhpur will be restored for ₹4.31 crore. The plans include constructing stone walls to prevent soil erosion, installing fencing, and adding features such as tree plantations, gardens, sports equipment, walkways, and public amenities like water and restroom facilities.

A small island in the center of both lakes will be developed similarly to Kankaria’s Naginawadi, featuring tree plantations, flower beds, benches, and a gazebo for senior citizens. DeshGujarat
